Effect of Acupuncture on Levels of Serum Adrenocortical Hormone and Glucose under the Immobilization Stress

Abstract

|
The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of acupuncture on serum-levels of glucose and adrenocort i cal hormone in rats under, the immobilization stress. Serum levels of glucose and adrenalcortical hormone were affected to a marked extent by the immobilization stress. Increased blood glucose levels were less prominent in rats receiving acupuncture at the Tsu-San-Li locus than in those treated otherwise or receiving no treatment. There was a slight decrease compared to the serum levels of cortisol. under the immobilization stress following application of acupuncture at the locus Tsu-San-Li.
